VFX Challenge Day 1: Rime's Stylized Fire
To kick things off I found a great video posted by Simon Schreibt that goes over how a few of the key effects in Rime were created:
And used the fire material tutorial available on this page:
This helped me understand that I need to constantly be
looking for smart ways to cheapen the cost of my effects without compromising
quality. Simply creating cool effects isn’t enough I need to understand how and
when they will be used to make good, in-game VFX. It was also the effect that made me decide to do this challenge.
